Home stay was valuable 3 weeks for me.

Before I went, I had so many thoughts. Staying with people who I know nothing about yet! Going overseas! Speaking English all the time! All for the first time!

When I first met my host family, I couldn't catch their English. My heart was throbbing. I had a blend of excitement and expectation. But, my host family spoke slowly so that I might understand. Their smiling faces made me relax. I felt their gentleness, so my worrying feeling went away by the evening. It changed to a feeling which was pleasant. When I spoke to my host mother about something, I couldn't speak well, but my host mother said to me, you can speak English!! You can do it!! Her words motivated me to try harder.
It was really good for me that I could meet them. It was a valuable time thanks to them. I am sincerely thankful. I could enjoy the program with everyone. This time, I could learn many things by participating in this home stay program.

Now, I'd like to be able to speak English better in the future. Thank you!!

On July 15th we left home to go on a homestay in Pennsylvania for 3 weeks. Pennsylvania was a very peaceful place, spread with many cornfields.

We were each divided up with a host family where we spent our time. We took ELS classes in the morning and the afternoons were the time for activities. We learned many things in our ESL classes that helped us understand about shopping and the ways of Pennyslvania. They were very good for us to learn.

The most memorable ESL class was when we made a TV commercial. We were divided into a group of three people.
We need to talk and plan for about an hour to do it and make it interesting. That was really fun.

One day we went to Washington DC, and watched scenes from the movie Night Museum on the bus. Another day we went to an Amish area and rode in a horse drawn carriage.

On the last day we were divided into two groups. That was to show off singing and dancing, so that our host families could enjoy themselves. We were happy too!

Before I went on the homestay I worried that I might get homesick. Would my host family be kind or not? But, we didn't have anything to worry about. We also had our teacher and tour guide to help us. We had a full enriching homestay.

We have been given a good opportunity to go to Pennyslvania, by our families. We are grateful for everything.
Thank you.
